In my opinion, Merida is one of the best princesses. Brave is Pixar’s first fantasy film, the first one with a leading
female and also the first to be placed in the past!
Unlike others, this
Picture is not based on a old tale, but written buy the writer and director
Brenda Chapman. She was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen and the Grimm
Brothers, though.
The movie is originally
placed in the 10th century. Even though there are some problems related to this data, such as the clothes don’t match the historical period, people believe that
the century was defined as such because it was the last one that Scotland had
any bears.
The mother/daughter relationship is the main theme in the movie, for as it is deeply discussed.
This film shows that neither the parents are holders of all truth, nor teens
are always wrong or aren’t suppose to have their on opinions. There must be a balance between those
concepts, since this relationship is a learning experience (or I must say, adventure?) for both parts.
Another important
concept, reason behind all the conflict between the two leading females, is marriage. Merida doesn't want to get married, she knows she can be a great
princess without a husband and, most of all, she believes that she can create her
own future.
And c’mon, it is super
badass when she fights for her own hand! There’s such a symbolism involved in
this scene! First: a women isn’t her father’s nor family's property for them
to give her to anyone. Second: a women can and must fight to choose her life’s courses! Who said we have to be at home? Who said we have to have children? Or
get married? Let’s take control of our own lifes, and decide by ourselfs what
we want or not: let’s take our own hands. Third: Yes, women can deal with
weapons hahahaha
And even though she did
all those great things, she ended up turning her mother into a bear! So she is
not that perfect, cute princess that is the victim of the circumstances. She
makes mistakes, and she deals with them.
So, if I didn’t made
you want to watch it with those arguments maybe you’ll watch it by its amazing
animation, humor, and values! There are much more nice things about this
Picture, but I’ll let you watch and think for yourself, since the main ones I
said here.

Na minha opinião, a Merida é umas das melhores princesas de
todas. Valente é o primeiro filme de fantasia da Pixar, o primeiro com uma
protagonista mulher e também o primeiro da companhia a se ambientar no passado!
Diferente dos outros, esse filme não é baseado em um conto
específico. Ele foi criado pela escritora e diretora Brenda Chapman. Mas ela se
inspirou claro, em Hans Christian Andersen e nos Irmãos Grimm.
O filme se passa no século 10, mas tem vários erros
temporais, como as roupas não baterem com o período. Mas acredita-se que foi
definido assim porque esse foi o último século que se teve notícias de ursos na
Escócia.
O tema principal do filme é a relação mãe/filha, que é
discutida profundamente. A animação mostra que nem os pais são detentores de
toda a verdade, nem os filhos adolescentes estão sempre errados ou não tem
opinião própria. Tem que haver um equilíbrio entre esses conceitos,já que essa
relação é uma experiência (ou deveria dizer aventura?) de aprendizagem para ambas as
partes.
Outro conceito importante, por trás da razão entre as duas
mulheres protagonistas, é o casamento. Merida não quer se casar porque sabe que pode
ser uma ótima princesa sem um marido e, acima de tudo, acredita também que
pode moldar seu próprio futuro.
E fala sério, foi muuuuito foda quando ela lutou pela
própria mão! Tem tanto simbolismo essa cena! Primeiro: a mulher não é nem do
pai, nem da família, para que eles deem ela para alguém. Segundo: a mulher pode
e deve lutar pela escolha própria do curso de sua vida! Quem disso que temos
que ficar em casa? Ou que temos que ter filhos e nos casar? Devemos tomar
controle das nossas vidas e decidir por nós mesmas o que somos e queremos! E
terceiro: sim, mulheres conseguem mexer com armas. Hahahahaha.
Apesar dela ter feito esse bando de coisa legal, ela também
transformou a própria mãe num urso! Então assim, perfeita ela não é, que nem as
princesas clássicas, que só são vítimas de toda a situação, apesar de serem
completamente doces, meigas e gentis. Aqui não! Merida faz a merda mas vai lá e
resolve! hhahahahaha
E se mesmo assim eu não consegui te convencer a assistir,
talvez você assista pela animação incrível, humor e os valores super legais sobre família que ele transmite! Tem tantas coisas legais para falar desse filme, mas
acho que vou deixar vocês descobrirem por si mesmos, já que já falei os mais
importantes aqui.
